PHOTO SAFARIS
3 IMPORTANT ASPECTS DETERMINE THE QUALITY OF YOUR PHOTO SAFARI
The Lodge
Quite simply some lodge’s have better wildlife than others. As a general in South Africa the best game viewing lodges are around the Kruger National Park
but there are a few notable exceptions.
Your Safari Guide
Guides can be instrumental to your photographic experience, their understanding of light, vehicle placement and animal behavior can make a tremendous difference to your experience.
Fellow passengers
If you’re paired with non-photographers, they can influence the amount of time you spend at sightings, your start and finish tour times and the amount of space you have for camera gear

In the past few years, there is a lodge in South Africa that has taken wildlife photographers by storm.
It is Africa’s first reserve set up exclusively for wildlife photographers with 9 dedicated hides (blinds), including reflection ponds, a mobile bird hide and even 2 state of the art overnight hides. The hides are par excellence second to none; they’re spacious and soundproofed with Benro GH2 Heads and tripods are provided at each seat, you can of course also bring your own support systems along with Arca Swiss plates are available, at no extra cost.
With almost 400 bird species and 80 mammal species recorded within just 8000 hectares (16 000 acres) this is a bird and wildlife mecca!

The Sabi Sands is a 65 000ha privately owned game reserve that shares a 50km fenceless border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Together these areas make up South Africa’s highest density of big game. Very importantly for photographers the wildlife has become habituated allowing extraordinary close encounters particularly of the elusive leopard.
Understandably this premier destination comes at a premium price but the dedicated photo safaris here offer some of the best wildlife photography opportunities anywhere.
